Making Inexpensive Wall Art With Your Kids
Not only is cheap wall art a great way to make a house into a home, it can also be an opportunity to spend quality time with the kids, on an afternoon arts and crafts project.
Of course decorating your walls can be accomplished in one shopping trip to Wal-Mart or another big retailer, picking up cheap framed prints, of paintings from any period in art history that you can think of. This is an excellent way to quickly decorate when you move in to a new apartment or house, to rid yourself of those depressing white walls. But why restrict yourself to this method only?
But why not personalize the items that are hanging on your walls by involving your kids, whatever their ages, in the effort. Head down to a store that specializes in painting materials, with reasonably priced canvas already glued to wooden frames, and more paints and paintbrushes than Picasso himself probably ever had the luxury of choosing from.
The kids will really appreciate the opportunity to impress Mom and Dad with creative skills they’ve learned in school, and your offer to hang their new creations on the walls of their home will have them taking the task very seriously, no doubt. In addition to great rainy day activity, you’ll enjoy is having a special corner of the house to show off their handiwork, and the fact that this wall art came very cheaply is just an added bonus.
Speaking from personal experience, I’ve enjoyed having a little gallery of my children’s artistic creations from different periods of their development. Kids are not young forever, and you’ll never regret the time spent on household projects like this. I found that a mix of classic, though rather impersonal inexpensive wall art, in addition to personalized little artworks that my kids made, was the best way to brighten up our home over the years without spending too much money.
